What.the.hail.

pun intended.
Saturday was a beautiful day, so Steven and I decided to head to Asbury Park. Asbury is perfect because there is the beach, city-ish stuff and just a nice place to walk around. What else do you need on a beautiful day??
Side note: Steven and I plan on moving to Asbury Park within a year. :-D
Anyway, as we are walking around enjoy the beautiful weather there is a freakin' hail storm.
What.the.hail.
^
(That needed reiteration)
This is what we looked like post-hail.
Little wet. Little frazzled. Little disoriented.
We kept our game faces on though. Probably cuz we were on a serious mission to get.shit.done.*
*Get shit done=drink caffeinated beverages and eat cake.

This is how we break this shit down.
We came, we drank, we dried off.
Seriously though, this coffee shop, Twisted Tree Cafe, is the shit. They have all vegan/vegetarian options and the people who own it are nice-as-can-be. Guess if you're looking for me in the near future you can imagine where I'll be.
After I was dragged out of the coffee shop against my will we walked down to the boardwalk and gazed at the ocean PLUS got to do some people watching.
If you have a better afternoon, please explain.
Cuz this was damn near perfect.

Oh...and the fact that I always win*.

An apple a day

can't keep Ang away.
Steven and I had a fun filled day picking apples with Amy and her daughter Kaylie.  Ok, so... I love apple picking a little too much, I fully admit it, but I swear nothing compares to going on that adventure with a child. It was so fun.
Hearing her scream "I found one! Look another" seriously melted my heart.Darling.

We are kinda cute <3
This guy has a complete hold on my heart.
I'm so lucky.
We had apples and tons of homemade desserts.
The homemade apple cider donuts are to kill for.
I found some seriously good apples. Actually Immabout to eat one now.
Chew on that.

Flower Garland

The other night I came home to this:
I seriously love my boyfriend.
I talked about dreaming of being crafty here  and how I'm seriously jealous of Steven's abilities.
He knows about my jealousy and tries to expand my creative side
(or just works hard for brownie point...either way I'll take it)
Supplies were laid out along with easy instructions.
And I had a pretty cute teacher, if I say so myself.
Together we made beautiful flower garland to hang in OUR bathroom.
Obsessed.

There are perks

to living at the Jersey Shore
One perk is the beach in the fall- still beautiful and there aren't 1 million people visiting.
Also, the beach is just a hop, skip, and jump away from my apartment. And I swear fist-pumping is not the norm. And no one (errr- barely anyone) looks like the cast members of Jersey Shore.
Swear.

"It's the most wonderful time of the year"

You catch my gist, right?

Hanging Around

My jewelry has a place to 'hang'.
After time was spent untangling a few nails were put into this hanger to attempt to organize.

I like the simple look of this and it gets the job done ;)

Out with the old and in with the new

That is how the saying goes right? Well, if not I followed it anyway.
Since Steven is moving in, like I mentioned here, we decided to de-clutter to make more room for him.

Although I don't have before and afters (because I'm way too impulsive to think of that) I do have what it looks like now.
In the kitchen I added spices in these little jars and we put an old post card of Long Branch (where I live) in this frame.
Microwave cart + simplicity= happiness.
(simple math)
The picture in the heart is from Prom, craziness.
And a newly decorated place to rest our heads.
Note Maxwell in the window enjoying the little things in life.
Man, must be nice being a cat.

Nuttin' to it but to do it

One of my biggest dreams has always been to be crafty and creative. If you give me a craft with step by step instructions I can usually get it done, but to think of something creative on my own is where the trouble comes in.  And by trouble I mean I can't do it if my life depended on it. Steven, however, is one of the most creative people...ever. I'm so jealous. Some of the things he comes up with are amazing.
So my un-creative self takes really nicely to pinterest.
I scour and pretend like I'm a creative and crafty person and envision my apartment filled with the crafts and do-it-yourself projects. (isn't that what everyone dreams of?)

My newest obsession= maps.
That being said, Steven and I decided to get crafty.

Supplies: Frame, Different Maps, Mat and Something to cut with

Final Result:

Steven and I put Philadelphia, New York and New Orleans in the rectangle frames because they are places that we have been together and love.

We put Long Branch, NJ in the heart because it is the first place we will live together.

Did I mention Steven is moving in?

Cat is out of the bag.

Next week, my friends, next week.

Sometimes you just have to laugh...

...even though tears would not be questioned.
So, I don't want to say that yesterday was a BAD day because it was not by any means, but there were some crap-tastic things that happened.

What were they? Funny you should ask:

1. Woke up 10 minutes before I had to be at work.
did I mention it was my first day of work
2. Spilled my whole coffee all over the kitchen counter.
did I mention I just cleaned my entire kitchen
3. Got ditched, so-to-speak
did I mention it kind-of sucked
4. Called 911 at work, whoops
did I mention that I work at a college
and did I mention the cop said "Today is not your day, is it?"
5. Stepped on glass
did I mention I bled
6. It rained to top it off
did I mention I get confused for Carrot Top when it rains
(redhead frizzy hair problems)

Regardless of this I refused to accept that the day was anything
 short of just fine.
That is my annoying ass positive self speaking.

When I got home from work I put a smile on and made myself some pity party Cucumber and Avocado Spring Rolls to turn the day around. Food has that effect on me. Sue me.
Asian Ang was in the house.
How can a good book, food and flowers not bring on a smile?
(That is a trick question)

Thennn I got to talk on the phone with my best friend.
this is why we are hot.

I knew it was going to be a good day <3

Promise

I made a pact, of some sort, to myself that I would not start blogging again until I was able to fly a kite with ease and some kind of poise*...
I started off at the beach bright and early. You know to get the "feeling" right.
The "right feeling" could be described as wind, ocean,
sunrise, bare feet. (you catch my drift)
You could say I ACED this portion of the experience.
(See above photo if you're confused by this)
I then assured myself that a beautiful picture of a kite would help to increase the kite flying experience.
You know, it just helps with the process...
This, my friends, is a pretty accurate portrayal of how high I got this kite in the air. I was catching some serious air...(hmph)
My dreams of flying a kite have been crushed.
You can say I worked hard and gave it all I had, but honestly I failed.
Failed failed failed.
Gosh, I suck. Does anyone have ANY kind of secret to flying a freakin' kite?
I tried running, standing still, smiling and even pouting, but nothing seemed to help.
It was fun, but if I said I had any sort of poise or did this with ease I'd be lying.  I'm actually pretty certain people were looking on at me in pity.
I guess my kite flying days have come to an end, but my blogging hasn't.
I'm happy to be back (for realz). Miss you all!!!
*Sooooo I didn't REALLY make a promise about first flying a kite to continue blogging, but I figured it would help to explain why I haven't been around ;)

Fresh-to-death

Coffee and fruit. Give.it.to.me.
New Orleans-style coffee on  my back porch with a fresh bagel, check.
Looking for the freshest berries...
Found...YUM!
In action...
...seriously got into this.
Berries now until forever.
Thank you very much.

San Fran: Remember When

About two months ago (wow time goes fast) I went to San Francisco for an awesome Counseling Conference.  The school offered to pay for flight and conference so I was all over that like peanut butta on jelly.
Leave it to me to get the seat that doesn't recline...OH and the man next to me who does not get humor.
So, I was silent the entire flight.

The first night we went to Pier 39 to see the seals and get some grub. Love hanging out with the future counselors :)
Then we explored the beautiful city for a while.
Did I mention how much I LOVED San Francisco?

Food, food and more food.

Did I mention food?

When I stroll back through my pictures on my phone I am overwhelmed by the amount of pictures I have of food in my saved photos.
I really do love food. I've gotten healthier in my choices, but nothing will ever stop me from gobbling up something yummy. Take a look:
