So, the 27th of December- the 1st of January my friend Crystal and I took a "spur-of-the-moment" trip to Chicago. By this I mean, I called her up one morning and said "how about a trip" and we booked it the next day. No planning just doing.
I'm not sure if you realize this, but I'm sometimes a mess of a person. In the airport these incidents happened:
1. Crystal and I got stuck in the spinny doors and literally got laughed at by an airport employee before help was offered.
2. I made friends with the man who took our luggage and told him if I did not receive it in Chicago that I would come back and personally find him. Luckily he had a good sense of humor...
3. Klutz is my middle name, or if my parents would have got a glimpse at me 23 years after I was born they would have made it that. With that being said, I told Crystal that I wasn't sure I could make it down the escalator with my bag, well I was right. I got on and my bag LITERALLY slid down the escalator and would have taken out an elderly woman if Crystal had not gone before me. Fail.
I may be a mess, but laughter is always involved. It's a price I'm willing to pay.
After endless laughter, we got some much needed beauty rest, since we had to leave SUPER early for our flight.
After we arrived safe and got on the right train and bus to get to where we were staying (yeah, we did rely solely on public transportation, meow) we went to
Gino's East, which is apparently a necessary stop in Chicago (to obviously get deep dish, hello). Pretty awesome that it was less than a block away from where we were staying.
The pizza was delish, but Crystal and I were so tired and hungry that our ENTIRE conversation over lunch consisted of maybe three full sentences and word salads. We laughed that night, after napping, because we could not believe that was all we said...
Luckily, regardless how tired we are at times or how uninteresting we can be, the pizza crust flake (that is the technical term) depicted exactly how we were going to feel about Chicago by the end of our trip!
More to come...
